America is too FAT!

I'm sad to say that more Americans are obese today then ever and the trend only seems to be getting worse. This snapshot was pulled from a tool on the CNN website showing the rate of obesity by state and time. The picture was from their most recent data (as of 2006).

This Nation's obesity is a major factor in it's cause of death as well. Heart Disease, Cancer, Stroke, and Diabetes are some of the Nation's top killers. Obviously, not all of these illnesses and diseases are preventable, but if more Americans were exercising and eating healthily we would all be much better off. I can help but think about the cost of obesity not just in Dollars but also in what obesity can do to a person socially and mentally. We as a people need to start taking better care of ourselves before it's too late.

In 2008 I have renewed my membership to my local YMCA and have been trying to eat better. As a big fan of fried food (especially French Fries) I can attest to the fact that eating healthy isn't alway easy but it's tiime to man up America!
